When is the Democratic primary?

Election day for the Democratic primary is March 3, 2026, beginning at 6:30 AM. Polls are open until 7:30 PM that day, and anyone in line to vote before 7:30 PM is allowed to cast their ballot.

Are there alternatives to in-person voting on March 3, 2026?

Yes! There are two other ways to cast your ballot in the Democratic primary: absentee voting and early voting.

Absentee voting permits any registered voter to request, receive, and return a ballot by mail. Go here if you are interested in absentee voting. Absentee voting for the Democratic primary begins January 12, 2026, and the last day to request a ballot by mail is February 17, 2026. All absentee ballots must be returned to the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections by March 3, 2026, at 7:30 PM.

You may also choose to vote in-person during early voting. Early voting permits a registered voter to request, receive, and cast a ballot in-person at any early-voting location in Mecklenburg County. Early voting begins February 12, 2026, and ends February 28, 2026.

There are three early voting sites in our District: Cornelius Town Hall (21445 Catawba Avenue, Cornelius); North County Regional Library (16500 Holly Crest Lane, Huntersville); and David Waymer Recreation Center (14008 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville).

The early voting schedule is as follows:

Thursday, February 12, through Friday, February 13: 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Saturday, February 14: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Sunday, February 15: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Monday, February 16, through Friday, February 20: 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Saturday, February 21: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Sunday, February 22: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Monday, February 23, through Friday, February 27: 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Saturday, February 28: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

When is the last day to register to vote?

If you are not currently registered to vote in Mecklenburg County, the last day to register and still cast a ballot in the March 3, 2026, Democratic primary is February 6, 2026. Go here for more information on how to get registered to vote.

Who can vote in the Democratic primary?

In addition to any registered voter affiliated with the Democratic party, unaffiliated voters may also vote in the Democratic primary because unaffiliated voters may choose to vote in either party’s primary.

Who can vote for this Superior Court race?

Go here to check the status of your voter registration. If you are registered to vote and if your address falls within Superior Court District 26C, you can vote in this particular race!

Superior Court District 26C is composed of 17 voting precincts. Those precincts are: 127, 133, 134, 142, 143, 150, 151, 202, 206, 207, 208, 209, 223, 224, 240, 241, and 242.

Remember, if you are voting in person on March 3, 2026, you must go to your assigned polling location. During the early voting period (February 12-28, 2026), you may visit any early voting location in Mecklenburg County to cast your in-person ballot.
